Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread

That wasn’t the root cause tbh Sold, at 1-1 and even 2-1 we had a chance to push on they changed it up a bit and brought on some subs. Soucek on and even Masuaku on the left would have made a big difference ..

It was some waffle about protecting players and giving those on the pitch a chance.

What none of it was about was their decision not to try and take action to win the game.

Basically a load of old horse shit that amounted to we're more concerned about games to come than trying to win that one.

I mean why have those players on the bench if you're not planning of make use of them?! And why play Rice, Cresswell, and Johnson for the full 90 if you're concerned about injuries.

As I say horse shit excuse.

I've just watched the highlights and couldn't believe how shit Rice was at CB. Of course he wasn't helped by having Balbuena as his partner, but Rice's performance convinced me his future is as a defensive midfielder, not at the back. Calvert-Lewin couldn't have believed his luck at the weak opponents in front of him.
Rice has either been affected by the Chelsea speculation or he no longer wants to play for the two dildos and the baroness bitch.

I thought Johnson was one of our better players in a crap outing.
Rice was pretty terrible as a CB
Yarmolenko did absolutely nothing, either wrong or right, just nothing.
Snodgrass and Haller put themselves about and had chances / a goal
Noble was his usual slow self, nothing particularly good or bad.
Lanzini tried, but did not deliver.
Anderson was an embarrassment, I seriously wondered why our players didn’t stop passing to him. What was that when Anderson broke forward got into the box and then just dribbled about until a defender easily took the ball off him? It’s a long time since I’ve sworn so much at the TV.

No excuse for not putting a stronger team out in our preferred formation.

One game on Sunday followed by a 2 week break.

Exactly the reason why until this board and manager go there's little point in bothering with West Ham!

Couldn't believe the team, a couple of the kids dropped and fuck all in midfield. But I suppose if your boss tells you have cost him £50k and he doesn't want it repeated then what do you do.
Sullivan and co are the real issue and all the shit stems from the m

Totally right.
I don't many on here would moan if Ashby had played and we lost, especially as a wing back.
He's suited for the role. Johnson is too and can play left wing back.
Cresswell is gone as a left back. Anderson has to keep helping out. Neither are good at helping each other.
Moyes gets 2 good results then does this.
Why I hate him as our manager.
No subs is just inexcusable again.

Dandy I think he’s played well in most of his games tbf wasn’t great last night but wasn’t shit in my eyes especially as he was up against two pretty decent players last night. Does lack a lot going forward but is very solid defensively which surprises me as people saying he started out as a winger but seems to lack any attacking threat.

love it when people say ‘it’s only a two bob cup anyway’ like we’re saving ourselves for Bayern in the champions league.

I’m not one for getting on a young players back after a poor performance, especially when the whole team played badly - but can anyone tell be a game Johnson has done well in?

For me, he’s done ok at best in a couple if the bar is set really low.

I’m not writing him off, I hope if the team improves, he’ll be an asset, as it must be hard co I g in as a kid to an under performing team, but I’ve just not seen anything in him yet that makes me think he’s a premier league player.

Only watched the highlights but what I saw the decision to play Rice at CB looked well... a bit iffy... he was all over the shop...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread
If we were looking to protect players, surely at the very least Ashby would have come on for cresswell and Johnson switched to left back?

At 2-1 we were still in it and the game was reasonably even, they had 3 players go off injured and we still didn’t make any positive changes to try to win it.

The bench seemed to be full of players that we didn’t want to bring on unless there were injuries bye I can’t figure out why you wouldn’t give a youngster who’s done really well int he previous rounds another run out

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread
If there was a seriousness about getting through to the quarter final, that team would not have been picked last night.
My take it was nothing to do with subs, we were set up to lose or at least just be able to compete.
There was no surprise in the result.
Very disappointing already we are just playing to stay in the league. With no chance of winning it the only thing to play for is the cups.
After this weekend there is another international break the following weekend.
There is absolutely no ambition with these owners.

Given what we're told, it would have been MOYES decision not to make any subs.

And given his history with using substitutes, it's easily believable.
